Family Support for Pre-schoolers |
If you are the parent
of a child birth to six
years of age who is
- having difficulty
managing
your child’s
behaviours
- feeling worried
or unsure about
how to handle
conflict or set limits
- having trouble settling your child to bed
- often feeling angry with your child
- worried that your child is unusually sad,
angry or worried
- experiencing big changes or trauma in
your life
Our Family Support Worker may be of help to
you.
She will meet with you to discuss your
situation, decide with you what your goals are,
and develop a time-specific plan to meet those
goals. She can meet with you as frequently as
necessary to work toward the goals – as often as
three or four times a week, including evenings
and weekends.
She may
- help you assess your child’s growth and development
- help you understand your parenting style and how it fi ts with your child
- coach you in parenting skills
- help you decide if your family could benefi t from other kinds of help and assist you in getting them in place
- be there for you in the case of crisis
- organize or accompany you to meetings with other professionals
