Youth Outreach

If you are a youth aged 14 to 18 and

  • are involved with the law, or at risk of becoming involved with the law
  • are suspended or expelled from school, or at risk of leaving school early
  • are experiencing serious conflict with your family that may result in you not being able to live at home
  • are told you should seek counselling but don’t feel comfortable with this way of dealing with problems
  • are ordered to take certain courses (e.g., anger management)
  • are having trouble figuring out who might help you with things like financial support, legal matters, finding housing, getting into school, transportation, getting a job, etc., you may want to become involved with our Youth Outreach Workers.

They can offer practical individual help with sorting out the issues facing you and working through a plan to address them. This program is voluntary and it may meet the requirements of agencies with authority (e.g., probation, child welfare).

Outreach Workers may also work with your family to help resolve these issues.  They may organize and/or accompany you to meetings with other professionals.

You may become involved with this service at any time.  The workers will negotiate a plan with you that takes into account what you want and need.  The plan may be short or long-term.

From time to time, the Outreach Workers present HYPE (Helping Youth Perform and Excel), an 8-10 week life skills group course (e.g., communications, conflict resolution, anger management, etc.).
