Haliburton County Youth Hub – providing an inclusive and welcoming space for all youth aged 12-25 in our community.
Renovations are underway!
The majority of the generous 3-year funding from Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario and the Haliburton County Development Corporation will go towards the operating and staffing expenses to provide a broad range of services and supports delivered in an integrated fashion.
Renovations to Hali’s Youth Hub include making the building accessible (including stair lifts and washrooms) requiring substantial rebuild, a small commercial kitchen, creating multi-functional recreational space upstairs, and downstairs counseling and quiet spaces.
And of course – all the associated equipment and furniture to finish the space is needed too.
Your generous contributions will allow us to complete renovations in a timely way, purchase appropriate equipment, and furniture and fixtures to complete the space. You can direct your contribution towards the purchase of specific items, or if you prefer, make a general donation to the project. To make your donation visit Youth Hub Donate.
Broad range of services and supports
The Haliburton Youth Wellness Hub is being co-designed and led by youth, for the youth of Haliburton County. Many community services are coming together with leadership from Point In Time and Haliburton Highlands Health Services to support youth in developing this collaborative, multi-use space. The Hub will be a one-stop-shop for recreation, support, and gathering with peers.
We are looking for our youth to get involved to share ideas and vision to make this a safe, inclusive space where all youth between 12-25 can meet with friends, learn new skills, join in fun activities and get support when needed – as needed.
So far we’ve heard this space should be:
- fun (drop-in and planned recreational activities)
- comfortable and welcoming
- accessible for everyone
We’ve also heard youth say they want to see:
- workshops and learning opportunities
- access to healthy food
- transportation for those who need it
- supports for those who might need them: mental health, physical health, addictions, sexual health, peer-to-peer, parenting, educational, financial, vocational, etc.
The Youth Wellness Hub is located at 12 Dysart Ave., in Haliburton. It’s just down the street from the new Haliburton Junction Skate Park and Arena and is within walking distance of all of the youth-serving schools in Haliburton.
