Counselling/Therapy Services
Counselling and Therapy are intended to help support children, youth, and families to cope with a variety of challenges and mental health concerns. If you are concerned about your mental health, family conflict, or other challenges, our team of professional therapists can help work towards identified goals. Therapists are trained in a variety of therapeutic interventions and offer a range of supports.
Youth aged 12 and older may legally take part in counselling without their parents’ knowledge or consent. While we generally agree to meet in private first with youth who make this request, we also look for ways to involve parents.
As of January 2022, sessions are currently being offered by phone, Zoom secure video, or in-person depending on COVID-19 guidelines and accessibility. We have offices located in Haliburton and Minden, or can work together to arrange meeting at an alternative location in the community.
How to Access Counselling/Therapy
Referrals to our counselling/therapy services are made internally if determined they would be helpful. A referral can be made from our Quick Access Single Session clinic, Crisis Services, or from another service if you are already supported by Point in Time.
To initiate supports, please call our office at 705-457-5345 to book a Quick Access Single Session (see “Quick Access Clinic” page for more details). If you are a student at Haliburton Highlands Secondary School, you can book a High School Quick Access session through the school’s Student Support and Attendance Counsellor (see “Hal High Drop-in Clinic” page for more details). For immediate crisis support, please request to speak with a crisis worker when calling our office (see “Crisis Intervention” page for more details).
