Client Experience 2019 Caregivers shared what was good about PinT:

“My child is heard and supported."

“We were able to get the help we all needed in a way that focused on our family
goals and values. The staff are supportive and positive. We now have the tools to
work towards a healthier family atmosphere".

“The welcoming, helpful, non-judgmental atmosphere".

Caregivers feels as though they are getting the type (96%) and amount (92%) of help that they needed.

100% of youth and caregivers felt that they can openly share their views and opinions with their worker and that staff are knowledgeable.

100% of youth state that they feel more hopeful about the future, are better able to cope with the problem and are overall satisfied with the service.

Quick Access Clinic

quick access 2018-2019

183 : The number of quick access sessions that occurred between April 2018
and March 2019. 145 clients attended sessions.

58 : The percentage of sessions that occurred at Point in Time's Haliburton
office. We also offered sessions at our Minden office as well as home or school visits as needed.

29 : The percentage of clients who got what they needed from one Quick Access
session. 71% were referred on to other Point in Time services.

90 : The number of clients referred to Brief Therapy services from Quick Access
Clinic. 26 clients were referred to Family Support, and 7 to Early Intervention.

77 : The percentage of youth and parents attending Quick Access sessions that
were considered "clinically distressed” based on their Outcome Rating Scales.
80% of children attending were considered "clinically distressed".

90 : The percentage of Session Rating Scales that indicate that our workers have a positive therapeutic alliance with clients.

Family Fun Night

What is Family Fun Night?
A free program offered at 2 local schools in Haliburton county where children and caregivers come together once a week to enjoy a free meal, crafts and physical activity.

Summary of Evaluation Results

  • overwhelmingly positive results about families' experience at the program - majority of families made connections with others
  • learned about resources in the community

Families responded that the best parts of the program were:

the food and activities (including: gym time, crafts and mindfulness martial arts demonstrations)

"Every time we are welcomed with open arms. the other families are great, our family enjoys the company."

"We love the crafts and the kids loved making jewelry and gym time."

"I have met some amazing families each week that will be life long friends."

"(What we like best about the program is) getting out with other parents in a safe environment with the kids where they get to play."

"The meal is a super bonus, but the gym time is where its at!""

High School Clinic

The Point in Time (PINT) high school drop-in clinic offers youth attending the local high school a safe and confidential place to access counseling with a trained mental health worker from Point in Time, 3 days per week throughout the school year.

149 clients accessed the clinic during the 2018-19 school year, on average. 40% of clients attended only once, others came back for more sessions.

41 individual students accessed the clinic. Most of them self-referred to the clinic.

The top presenting issues for clients were family conflict, anxiety, peer relationships, depression and anger/aggression

2x more clients presented in crisis this year compared to last year. Outcome rating scales (ORS) suggest that most clients are considered clinically distressed.

15 students presented in crisis a total of 26 times throughout the school year. Most were self-referred.

 

Summer Fun Zone

The Summer Fun Zone program is a 4 week camp that includes children and youth ages 6-17. This camp is for children and youth who require additional support in a program.
This year, 22 children and youth participated in the program.

91% of caregivers indicated that their child "definitely" appeared to enjoy the program.

"My child always felt comfortable at camp. I was relaxed at home knowing he was attending SFZ."

73% of caregivers noticed some kind of changes in their child over the summer.

100% of children and youth would like to come back next year.

What caregivers liked best about the program:

  • everything
  • new opportunities for child
  • swimming lessons
  • child meeting new people
  • transportation provided

72% of caregivers rated the program as excellent.

"She loved all the counsellors!"
"My child is looking forward to coming back!"

100% of children and youth had a lot of fun at summer fun zone.
Children and youth's favourite activities included: swimming, mini golf, tablets and food.
Caregivers stated that the program had positive impacts on them including:

  • respite time
  • peace of mind gave me time with my other children
  • helped me understand how to regulate my child
